Tianis Jones was arrested after an incident at a McDonald's in Lakeland, Florida, on May 19, 2022. Police arrested her the following day on allegations of burglary with assault, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and misuse of 911. Those were charges, not findings of guilt. One week later, attorney Jeremy McClymont challenged Sheriff Grady Judd's public comments about Jones. McClymont argued that the sheriff's remarks could prejudice her right to a fair trial, and he said Jones struggled with depression and bipolar disorder. A later body-camera video, published in March 2025, shows a May 10, 2024 traffic stop involving a woman officers call “Tiana.” During the stop, officers refer to active warrants connected with “trashing a McDonald's” and marijuana possession.
