The police pursuit of Jason Vega began in the 14000 block of Bledsoe Street in Sylmar, as he was wanted on outstanding felony warrants.
At approximately 12:44 p.m. PDT, the pursuit concluded on the westbound 210 Freeway near the Roxford Street offramp, where Vega attempted to carjack a vehicle.
LAPD officers Sergeant I Jose Monzon, Police Officer II Shenia Garcia, and Police Officer II Ruben Fuentes fired their weapons, striking Jason Vega.
After being shot and remaining non-compliant, officers deployed a 40mm less-lethal launcher, after which Vega surrendered and was taken into custody.
Vega was transported to Olive View Medical Center for treatment and medically cleared before being booked. A Glock Model 22, 40-caliber handgun was recovered at the scene.
The names of the officers involved in the shooting were authorized for public release by the LAPD.
