On July 20, 2026, a 24-year-old motorcyclist died following a traffic accident on the ES-486 highway in the Soturno district of Cachoeiro de Itapemirim, Espírito Santo, Brazil. According to local reports, the motorcyclist was performing a maneuver known locally as "dar grau"—a wheelie—when he lost control of his vehicle. The motorcycle crossed into the opposite lane and collided with a Toyota Hilux pickup truck. Upon impact, the motorcyclist was struck by his own motorcycle. The driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene to provide assistance to the victim. Emergency responders transported the motorcyclist to the Santa Casa de Misericórdia hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival. The incident was captured on security camera footage from a nearby business. Local authorities, including the Delegacia Especializada de Infrações Penais e Outras (Dipo), investigated the incident. The driver of the truck was subjected to a breathalyzer test, which returned negative for alcohol, and he was found to have been operating his vehicle in accordance with traffic regulations. Consequently, the truck was released at the scene.
